Mr. Schrader first joined ATA in 2005 as a consultant, coming to the US during his exploration of feasibility of an international architectural platform with offices in the US, Germany, and New Zealand. He soon realized that ATA’s modernist approach to architecture while keeping the users experience and comfort as well as the small details in mind was part of his own architectural dogma and he decided to join ATA permanently.
Mr. Schrader is a licensed architect in Germany, where he is a member of the Architektenkammer Niedersachsen (Chamber of Architecture of Lower Saxony). He keeps in close contact with the European architectural community allowing for an international exchange of ideas and technology.
At ATA Mr. Schrader has managed projects ranging from single family residences and multi-family projects to retail tenant improvements and commercial buildings. Among the most mentionable is an 118,000 square foot condominium building, a 45,000 square feet commercial building and the development and implementation of a flagship design for an acclaimed apparel chain.
While working in Germany Mr. Schrader has worked for four years with Pook Leiska Partner Architects with offices in Hamburg, Brunswick and Magdeburg, Germany. As a project manager and architect he was responsible for multiple commercial and institutional projects among those a 50,000 square feet boarding house project and a 150,000 square feet rehabilitation center. Prior to that he has worked as a project architect with the award winning firm Despang Architekten, Hannover, Germany on various projects ranging from mixed use developments to automobile show rooms.
Mr. Schrader received his Diploma (Master’s Degree) of Architecture in 2001 from the University of Hanover, Germany. As a graduate student Mr. Schrader received a scholarship for a one year graduate studies at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. His scholastic work has been featured in the Hyde Chair of Excellence Exhibit at the University of Lincoln in 1999 and his urban work shop study on ‘New Forms of Living in the Inner City’ has been published by the S.T.E.R.N. GmbH Berlin, Germany in 2000.
Mr. Schrader’s passion in architecture has always been combined with the analysis of concepts and the scholastic approach to an architectural challenge. As a result he has been serving as a guest critic at the University of Southern California, School of Architecture since 2008.
