Project Architect
Thomas Johnson joined Abramson Teiger Architects in 2002 after working in firms in San Francisco and Chicago. He has over 15 years experience working on educational, institutional, commercial and residential projects. Mr. Johnson brings to his projects an attention to detail as well as being adept at moving projects from original concept to client move in.
At Abramson Teiger Architect, Mr. Johnson has managed projects varying in size, scope, and construction type. They include the flagship store of Dermalogica, an international skin care company based in Los Angeles, residences in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, and the renovation and addition to a 22,000 square foot private high school.
In Chicago, Mr. Johnson worked at Rugo/Raff Architects, a firm specializing in high-end residential work with a focus on design. He was the senior project manager responsible for the construction and renovation of luxury residences. He designed and managed projects in Chicago, Massachusetts and Michigan, ranging from vacation homes and city apartments to large estates.
Prior to working at Rugo/Raff Architects, Mr. Johnson was a project architect at Harry Weese Associates, where he worked on the renovation of Chicago public schools. Mr. Johnson was involved in other large-scale projects while working for an environmental engineering firm with offices in Berkeley and San Francisco. Clients included the San Francisco Department of Health, the San Francisco Housing Authority, and the Hyatt Regency Hotels.
Thomas Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley in 1991, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1997. As a graduate student, he received the AIA / American Architectural Foundation Scholarship and the Christian and Oline Larson Scholarship, and was the editor of the UIC Reviews, a publication of the School of Architecture.
